Nina Spiering is a director and production designer. She has worked in a wide variety of art forms such as fiction film, documentary, installations, interactive film and film for theatre. For Nina the art form of the project is always secondary, it is defined by thorough research. She graduated in 2007 and has a background in spatial design and video for theatre, working with well-known Dutch theatre companies like Orkater and Oostpool. While her focus completely moved to film, her background in 3D space is still very present in her work as a director as well as her work as a production designer. Since 2012 she also teaches film at University of the Arts in Utrecht. Together with long term collaborator Mirka Duijn, Nina Spiering runs Studio Kimmo, a small but sturdy production studio.
